Nan's B&B Pickles

Inspired by my late grandmother, these pickles are so freakin' easy it's ridiculous - not to mention unforgettably delicious!

Preparation Time: approximately 5 minutes

Cooking Time: approximately 14 minutes

Serving Size: ½ cup; makes about 10

1 Slice on the Slice Plan.


2 cucumbers, large, sliced

1 onion, sweet or Vidalia, halved and sliced

½ cup white vinegar

¾ cup sugar (natural brown or granulated white)

1 tsp kosher salt

½ tsp mustard seed

¼ tsp celery seed

¼ tsp turmeric


Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seed, celery seed, and turmeric to make brine. Toss to combine with cucumber and onion slices.

Using microwave safe bowl, cook on HIGH for 14 minutes, stirring completely about half of the way through. Remove and let rest for 20 minutes.

Turn-out & Storage

Nan’s Pickles can be canned and stored for months. This recipe can also be stored under refrigeration for up to 1 month.
